BMW 2 Series Active Tourer headed for Germany launch in September

BMW has announced the launch of its front-wheel-drive people mover, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, in September. To be available in three engine options and five variants, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in Germany from 27 September 2014 priced from €27,200. There’s a total of two petrol engines (a new 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder) and one 4-cylinder diesel engine. Measuring a length of 4,342 mm and a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer offers great levels of space and functionality thanks to the boot space of 468 litres that can be increased to 1,510 litres with the 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer gets trademark features such as the slightly forward-slanting BMW kidney grille, distinctive twin circular headlights, short overhangs at the front and rear, long wheelbase, the Hofmeister kink in the rear side windows, L-shaped rear lights and an eye-catching swage line at the sides.
BMW 218i Active Tourer gets the new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine generating a maximum power of 136 hp and comes fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine just consumes 5.2–4.9 l/100 km and emits combined CO2 emission of 120–115 g/km.
Top ranging BMW 225i Active Tourer is a four-cylinder petrol version comes with eight-speed Steptronic gearbox as standard. Putting out a maximum power of class-topping 231 hp, the 225i Active Tourer takes just 6.6 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h dash and achieves a top speed of 240 km/h.
BMW 218d Active Tourer comes with a four-cylinder diesel engine consuming 4.3–4.1 l/100 km and emitting CO2 emissions of 114–109 g/km. It pumps out a total of 150 hp and a peak torque of 330 Nm powering the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, on to a top speed of 208 km/h. While a six-speed manual gearbox is standard with the BMW 218d Active Tourer, an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox will be available as an option.
Standard equipment for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer comprises of hands-free telephone facility with Bluetooth interface, the BMW iDrive control system with controller on the centre console and 6.5-inch Control Display, a rain sensor and automatic headlight activation, a sports leather steering wheel, the Intelligent Emergency Call system and Collision Warning with City Braking function. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the first model in the premium compact class to be made available with the Head-Up Display that projects all relevant driving information into the driver’s field of vision in full colour.
The 2 Series Active Tourer will come in four variants - Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport. The Advantage, Sport Line and Luxury Line variants will be made available from launch and get two-zone automatic climate control, Park Distance Control at the rear, front fog lamps, cruise control with braking function and a multifunction steering wheel.
The M Sport specification will be made available from the end of 2014 and gets M aerodynamics package, High-gloss Shadow Line trim, M Sport suspension, 17 or 18-inch M light-alloy wheels, M leather steering wheel and sports seats with bespoke upholstery, the M Sport model of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer displays unbeatable road presence. Along with the M Sport model launch, variants with intelligent all-wheel-drive system xDrive will also be launched.
