BMW 520d saloon launched in India

Leading German automobile manufacturer, BMW(Bavarian Motor Works), has recently launched its BMW 520d premium sedan in India. This is the fifth engine variant to join the F-10 5- series line up. The all new BMW 5 series 520d is powered with with 1995 cc 4- cylinder turbo diesel engine. BMW 520d has got maximum power of 184 bhp@ 4000 rpm similar to the 3-series saloon and maximum torque of 350 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The car is equipped with 8 speed automatic transmission.
In order to give this 5-series combo new stylish looks, standard changes have been made like 255/55 R 17 tyres. Paddle shift mechanism will not be present in BMW 520d unlike other 5 series models. The in-dash 6 CD changer music system is replaced by single Mp3 CD audio player. It also has the aux-in, USB port and Bluetooth interface standard. The other cosmetic features like sunroof etc. are the same as the BMW 525d premium sedan. Like BMW 320d corporate, the all new BMW 520d can also be denoted as the corporate edition in 5 series category. It has been priced Rs. 36,90,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) which is be 3 lakh rupees cheaper in comparison to the BMW 525d variant.
Moreover, the company claims that this car can reach from 0-100 kms in just 8.4 seconds. The Kerb weight of BMW 520d is 1520 kg. This 5 seater sedan has wheelbase measuring 2888 mm and boot space of 520 litres. The car will come with wide range of exciting features like Halogen or Xenon lights, Manual Cruise Control, Navigation system etc. and will have standard safety features as well like ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Stability control, traction control etc.
BMW India is a fully owned subisdiary of the German automobile company, BMW and has its headquarters and manufacturing facility at Chennai. At present this facility manufactures BMW 3 series, BMW 5 series and BMW X1 series which is expected to be launched soon. The company is planning to mount up the production scale due to rising demands. At present BMW has its 12 outlets spread across in India and the company plans to increase it to 22.
