BMW Opens up about its Fleet of Cars and Bikes for 2012 London Olympics

The German luxury car maker BMW is the official partner of the 2010 Summer Olympic Games that are being held in London. Since it is the official partner, BMW is going to provide the organizers of this great event a slew of over 3,000 cars and bikes. These luxurious cars and bikes will be used for all kinds of activities involved in the successful conduction of this event such as transporting judges, event directors and games officials and even pulling boats out of the water. The company has revealed more specific details about the cars and bikes to be used in the upcoming Olympic Games; this fleet would include low-emission and diesel cars, hybrid and electric cars, bicycles and motorcycles.

To be more specific, there would be 160 BMW 1 Series ActiveE (EV) cars, 40 BMW MINI E (Electric Vehicle) cars, 200 BMW MINI Countryman Cooper D cars, 1,550 BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics cars, 700 BMW 520d Efficient Dynamics cars, 20 BMW 5 Series Active Hybrid cars, 17 BMW X3 xDrive 20d cars, 10 0BMW X5 xDrive 30d cars, 25 units of BMW R1200 RT Motorcycle and 400 units of BMW Streetcruiser Bicycles. According to the Marketing Director of BMW UK, Mr. Chris Brownridge, the this fleet of cars for London Olympics is an example of what BMW is capable of achieving in terms of low emissions and fuel economy; the super clean EU6-compliant cars will be debuting on the UK roads. He added that during these games the company looks forward to sharing its vision of sustainable urban mobility, the company will also include its revolutionary electric vehicle technology in the Olympic Park at the BMW Group Pavilion.
