BMW to begin used cars business in India from January 2011

The German luxury car manufacturer and the major competitor of Mecredes Benz, BMW has been operating in Indian market since past 3 successful years and have reached a stage where the cars have started coming back, and considering the situation, the company has started to establish its used BMW cars in Indian markets. The German major has plans to start this innovative used car business in January 2011, which is probably the best way to start the new year.
Addressing the big plan, Mr Andreas Schaaf who is the president of BMW India commented that its a long time that BMW is operating successfully in lucrative Indian luxury car market and now when cars are returning back to them, company wants to enter the used car business which will further help them cover market effectively.
The decision of stepping in the used car market is derived from the exponential demand of pre-owned BMW cars in India. Moreover, the major competitor of BMW, Mercedes Benz is into the used car business since June 2010 and doing pretty well in this segment. Mercedes Benz has registered a sales of 600 cars in its used car business since it has entered this segment which has further forced BMW to take a step forward in bring its pre-owned cars in market.
Among the models listed in pre-owned business are, BMW flagship 5-series and also the famous BMW 3-series. BMW India is holding some spectacular models in its portfolio including BMW Z4 Roadster, BMW Gran Turismo, BMW X6, BMW X5, BMW X3, BMW X1, BMW 7 series, BMW 5 series and BMW 3 series.
The financial period of January- November 2010 brought 5,345 units sales for BMW as against the 5,109 units sales shown by major competitor Mercedes Benz for the same period thus BMW taking the grounds for this year.
