Budget effect: Honda hikes car prices

The Japanese auto titan Honda Motors Co. Ltd. has a joint venture with the Siel Ltd. in India under which the Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. operates. In response to the recent advancements in the basic excise duty imposed by the government, the company has revised prices of all its products as per the current market standards.

Currently, Honda India has a good array of cars, including hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs. The hatchbacks Honda Brio, Honda Jazz and the sedans Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord are all produced at the company’s facility in Greater Noida that has a capacity of manufacturing 100,000 cars.

The SUV Honda CR-V is imported from Japan as CBU (Completely Built Units). For different variants of Honda Brio, the newest addition to the Honda family, the price increase ranges between Rs. 4,000 and Rs 10,000. The premium hatchback Honda Jazz has seen an increase of up to Rs. 15,000 in all its models.Honda City price has been hiked up to Rs. 10,500.

The classy Honda Civic has seen a heavy rise in its price range i.e. from Rs. 36,600 to Rs. 45,800. And the most luxurious member Honda Accord has seen the steepest increase in the prices that ranges between Rs. 67,500 and Rs. 93,975. The new car prices are applicable from the 17th of March 2012 and the details of the prices of all the Honda cars along with their variants are as follows:
