Car sales in India up by 1.6% in June

It is a well-known fact that the Indian Auto market is one of the most booming and flourishing car market in the entire world. But since last few months, the car sales in India are tumbling down. There hasn’t been any kind of impressive increase in the car sales of India this June. The sales of the cars in India have gone up by merely 1.6%, which is not at all remarkable.

If figures are taken into account car makers managed to sell only 143,370 cars in the local market in the month of June 2011. On the other hand, it is an increase as in the 2010 June, manufacturers sold only 141, 086 cars, which is less than the car sales of June 2011.

However, it is clear that the boost up in the sales is not impressive at all and the whole and sole reason behind this is the sky rocketing fuel prices, which gave birth to higher vehicle costs. These two reasons were sufficient to scare away the consumers.

Nonetheless, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer or SIAM, the motorcycle sales positively boosted up by 14.97% in the month of June. The sales grew from 717,859 units to 825,323 units. On the whole, two-wheeler sales amplified by a whopping 14.59% that is from 9,34,975 units to 10,71,425 units in June 2011.

In the domestic market, even the heavy vehicles, such as trucks and buses were sold in huge amount. The figure of these vehicles enlarged to 17.835 to around 62,009 units in June 2011. If the entire Indian Auto Market is taken into account, the sales enhanced by 12.84%, which is from 12,07,934 units in June 2010 to an impressive 13,62,984 units in June 2011.
