Coming Soon: Tesla’s Enhanced Autopilot For India-Bound Model 3

Earlier in October, Tesla had revealed that all of its vehicles, including the yet-to-be launched India-bound Model 3, will be equipped with full self-driving hardware and feature complete autonomy in the future. However, owners of these vehicles – the Model S and X, purchased post announcement – are presently not able to use some of the features of the Autopilot, courtesy the updated hardware. Now, Elon Musk (CEO, Tesla) has recently revealed via Twitter that Tesla will roll out the enhanced version of its famed Autopilot with a new avatar of its operating system (8.1), starting mid-December.

For the uninitiated, Tesla revealed its most affordable offering – the Model 3 sedan – this year in April. Pre-orders began soon after its unveiling and Tesla has been accepting them from India as well, thus marking the official entry of the brand in the country. The Model 3 got overwhelming response and Tesla had received more than 1,15,000 pre-orders from around the world in the first 24 hours!
Recently, Elon Musk had revealed ‘Master Plan 2’ for Tesla and also inaugurated Gigafactory 1 in Nevada, USA, in collaboration with Panasonic for in-house production of batteries.
