Dacia have launched the most awaited compact SUV in the markets of UK with an astonishing starting price of £8995 (7.98 lakhs INR). With this price, Dacia Duster has become UK's cheapest SUV. Although the pre-orders have started from today itself but the delivery of the car will take place in the month of January of 2013. No clue have been given as to why the delivery of the car is set so late. The Dacia is a Romanian brand but all the right hand drive version of the Duster will be manufactured at the new Renault- Nissan Alliance factory situated in Chennai, India. The launch of Duster in India is not far and the car manufacturers have to keep in mind that the Chennai factory produces enough units of the SUV to cater the demand of both the markets the company has targeted.
In the markets of UK, the Dacia-badged Duster will have a 1.6-litre petrol engine that will capable to produce 104bhp of output. This engine of the Dacia Duster petrol version will be matted to a five-speed manual gearbox. The diesel variant of the car will have a 1.5-liter dCi turbo diesel engine which will be giving an output of 108bhp. The engine will be coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.
The SUV is available in three trim levels: Access, Ambiance and Laureate. All the three variants of the car comes with 16-inch steel/alloy wheels, ABS, longitudinal roof bars, electric front windows, four airbags, height adjustable steering wheel, trip computer, scuff plates and side sills. The Duster also comprises gadgets like Bluetooth, USB connectivity and Radio or CD system with AUX. Dacia is offering a three years or 60,000 miles standard warranty that will make the company a compelling owner of the SUV. All these marketing strategies were successful as they have been applied earlier by the company in the markets of Germany and France. So, we see no reason as to why Dacia Duster will not be successful in the markets of UK also.
