Arjuna awardee and paralympian Deepa Malik is on a mission to aware people about the woman power. During her week-long journey from Chennai to Delhi in a customized SUV Renault Duster, she received an overwhelming response from the people across the cities. Crossing major cities - Chennai, Bangalore, Belgaum and Pune, the epic drive has now hit Mumbai.
Deepa Malik is on a record-breaking spree to record her name in the Limca Book of Records for the longest pan-India drive by a paraplegic woman. Crossing her limits, she is surely an inspiration for us by showing her mental limits. Malik left Pune with her team, and stops at the Renault Navi Mumbai dealership from where the official flag-off was planned.
Femina Editor Tanya Chaitanya was the Chief Guest called for the flag-off ceremony. It proved to be a familial drive for all as the parents of a student came down to support the Team and motivate them.
Deepa Malik on the occasion said, “Mumbai proved to be a beautiful drive with rains making it a pleasant travel. I must applaud the engineering of Renault as driving the car is very smooth. The acceleration and pick up of the vehicle is very smooth even in thick traffic.”
The next destination was Ahmedabad, but due to heavy rains the route changed, and now the team will skip the city and reach Udaipur via indore, which she will go crossing Dhule. This will lead to an addition of 200 kilometres to the 3000+ km drive. However Deepa Malik seems to be happy because she will get to meet her husband in Dhule (who is posted there).
