Abarth Punto EVO will snatch the crown from Volkswagen Polo GT TSI from being the most powerful hatchback in the sub-10 Lac bracket with nearly 135 bhp at the disposal of your right foot, and unlike the Polo GT TSI, Abarth Punto EVO would be a pure manual fun!
Fiat is really doing something radical in the country. It will become the first non-luxury manufacturer to bring their performance wing in India - Abarth! The first product in the Abarth range would be the 595 Competizione, which is reportedly coming this August, soon followed by the Abarth Punto EVO and Avventura. These are the very first clear spy shots of the upcoming hot hatch. Fiat India is testing it in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. Moreover, Punto EVO would become the most powerful hatch in its segment defeating the VW Polo GT TSI while Avventura would do the same with Ford EcoSport's EcoBoost mill.

Fiat Abarth Punto EVO will look like a go-fast hatch, unlike the Polo GT TSI which hardly looks apart from its stock sibling. The spy test mule gets Abarth graphics, contrasting color wing mirror and the hellish ‘Scorpion’ Abarth alloys. And not-to-miss, this vehicle is not carrying any Fiat badges, so we’ll be having Abarth’s Scorpion badges all over just like the rest of the world!
Interiors will be all-black similar to that of the top-end Emotion Punto EVO but get subtle Abarth treatment, like neon contrasting stitching, Abarth logos, aluminum pedals and more. However, unlike the European version, Abarth Punto EVO in India is not likely to get sports seats.
Mechanically, it will draw power from the 1.4-liter T-JET, this is the same engine that is under Linea T-JET and the upcoming Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione. But the engine is present in a different state of tune in all these car with Abarth 500 being the most powerful. The engine in Punto EVO and Avventura will reportedly produce a whopping 135 bhp at 5500 rpm and over 200 Nm of max torque extracted nearly at 3000 rpm. It is most likely that Abarth Punto EVO will hit 100 kmph in less than 10 seconds and will take you close to 200 kmph! And there will be a throaty exhaust note too!
