The well-known Italian car manufacturer, Fiat is working hard on expanding its portfolio in India and is planning to add more products to lure the consumers in India. This would be done by offering Chrysler’ Jeep. Chrysler is basically the American automaker in which Fiat acquired a major share about 3 years ago. Besides bringing in the Chrysler Jeep, Fiat India could also launch Maserati and Alfa Romeo. A team of senior executives from the US Company Chrysler recently visited the country to carry out the product clinics for Jeep grand Cherokee, which is basically an SUV in the price segment quite similar to Chevrolet Captiva, Ssangyong Rexton and Toyota Fortuner.

According to a reliable source, the blueprint is currently being created to amplify the Fiat’s presence in the Indian car market with brand new range of car models and if these plans go well then the new launches will not be included in the 50-50 collaboration of Fiat and Tata Motors, to make cars for these 2 companies along with the engines and transmissions. The Chrysler Jeep model is expected to arrive in India in the form of CKD or completely knocked down condition and will be assembled at Tata-Fiat manufacturing plant located in Ranjangon near Pune, Maharashtra. On the agreement, the Fiat brand of cars will be brought to India through completely built unit or CBU form. On the other hand, almost every global car manufacturer has been working on expanding its operations in ndia and this is being done by launching new cars in numerous segments ranging from compact cars to luxury and premium sedans. So far, Fiat did not step up in its process, but by brining in the Chrysler Jeep in its Indian portfolio, Fiat will surely go up a notch in the market. When enquired about the same from the company, the firm decided to be tight-lipped at the moment.
