Previously we had mentioned that Fiat will be introducing two Jeep models in India , one of them is the Cherokee and the other Liberty. There is a correction, as Fiat is planning to get the Cherokee and the Wrangler, not the Liberty. These two models will be available launched by the third and fourth quarters of 2013.
As Fiat is moving away from Tata dealerships, it is setting up its own exclusive touch points. As the plant remains as one company and the sales and marketing as another, it will be an uphill task as they don't just have to make the company profitable but also set-up dealership across the country.
The Grand Cherokee will compete with the likes of BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz M-Class and also the Range Rover Evoque, while the Wrangler will be priced between Rs 20-28lakh as both will be complete body unit (CBU) imports. Fiat will have separate dealerships for Jeep. The plans aren't confirmed, but this is the most likely thing to happen.
