Fiat Unveils 124 Spider

Fiat has finally unveiled its much awaited 124 Spider. The car bears numerous similarities with its close rival, Mazda MX-5 and also has many distinctions .
The Italian automaker claims to have borrowed the styling of this car from the original version of Fiat 124 Spider designed by Pininfarina. Fiat has reworked the body shell of MX-5 to create one for its 124 Spider. Even the front, headlamps, foglamps and grille look refreshed. Headlamps get the modern daytime running lamps with in-set fog lamps. Moving to the rear, the car features stylish rectangular tail-lamps with dual exhaust. An integrated spoiler on the boot ensures the driver gets good amount of traction with its double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension.
This recently revealed car shares its interiors with the MX-5. The cabin is laid out in a fashion which keeps the driver in control at all times. Along with this the switchgear, infotainment system and the easily deployable roof; are some of the features which are identical in the two cars.
Mechanically, 124 Spider gets a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 160 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 249.5 Nm. It offers a choice between six-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. The car is expected to hit the roads internationally in 2016.
