After the recent spotting of Honda Jazz crossover’s test mule, a prototype of Fiat’s rival for Renault Kwid, codename X1H has also been spied during a road-test in Brazil. The car will be Fiat’s contender for the entry level small car segment. X1H is slated to make its debut in the Brazilian market, sometime in the first half of 2016. The research and development of this hatchback is being carried out by Fiat’s Brazilian subsidiary. The Fiat X1H shares its platform with Uno, well, at least the front half, whereas the rear half of the platform has been designed from scratch. This is expected to enhance the car’s performance during crash tests. The car’s design is also aimed at enhancing the cabin space for the occupants and doing so, the X1H features a compromised boot-space.
The car will be 3.86 meters long and will probably incorporate a 1.0-litre petrol engine that is seen in Brazilian Palio Fire. The powerplant will be coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox and will produce 73PS of power output. If and when X1H car is launched in India, this powerplant will help Fiat take on its French competition, which will also get a 1.0-liter unit that is designed by the Renault-Nissan JV.
