Indian MPV war may get more intense now as another player Ford mulls to slip in its candidate in the competition. At the Geneva Motor Show that is scheduled for March 2012, Ford is planning to launch its five-door MPV, known as Ford B-Max, which could also arrive in India in near future. The new Ford B-Max will replace the not so impressive, Ford Fusion in Europe. Ford Fusion was also present in India. However, the model was discontinued. This MPV is expected to be amongst those eight new cars, which Ford is planning to launch in Indian car market. Ford India unveiled Ford EcoSport at the famous 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi. Ecosport garnered a lot of positive response during the grandiose event and the company can plan to launch it this year.

Ford B-Max could be included in the same line-up as Ford is planning to launch about 8 new vehicles in India by 2015. The Ford B-Max concept was initially revealed at the 2010 Geneva Motor show that precisely measured up to 4.04 metres and hopefully the final model will certainly measure a bit less than 4.04 metres. And if Ford B-Max successfully measures less than 4 metres, the potential of being launched into India is huge. The Ford B-Max is basically designed to come with pillarless doors, which means the MPV doesn’t have typical B-pillar whereas the rear doors are sliding type. The company claims that it has been successful in figuring out some really clever design tactics to make sure that car can live up to the much acclaimed EuroNCAP 5 star rating.

The boot space in Ford B-Max is around 397 litres that could be amplified to more than 1000 litres. The new Ford B-Max MPV will be offered in both diesel and petrol engine, which would also include in the 1.0 litre of 3 cylinder EcoBoost engine that churns out 118 BHP and 1.5 litre of Duratorq diesel engine, which produces 90 BHP of power, quite similar to the Ford fiesta saloon present in the country. As far as pricing of the car is concerned, Ford India could place Ford B-Max just below Ford EcoSport, which falls into the price range of Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh. Ford B-Max is likely to go on sale later this year in Europe and hopefully, Ford India is expected to bring this new MPV in the second half of 2013.
