Ford India today announced the availability of its urban SUV- EcoSport under Canteen Stores Department (CSD) and Central Police Canteen (CPC) across the country. The EcoSport will join the list of Ford cars- Classic, Figo and Endeavour, which are already available at these stores. These stores cater exclusively to defense personnel and ex-servicemen.
Ford stated, 'exclusive benefits including priority delivery to serving and ex-servicemen subject to variant availability in addition to standard benefits offered under CSD and CPC.'
EcoSport comes with two petrol engine options, namely the 125bhp-1.0 litre three cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged mill, the familiar 110bhp-1.5 litre four cylinder TiVCT naturally aspirated engine, and the highest selling- 90bhp-1.5 litre four cylinder TDCi turbocharged engine.
Manufactured in the American car manufacturer's Chennai plant, the EcoSport recently surpassed the One Lakh sales milestone in domestic wholesales and exports combined. Currently, 60,000 EcoSports are running on the Indian roads, while the rest were exported to several parts of the world including South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and various European countries.
Quite recently, the prices of the urban SUV were hiked from INR 10,000 to INR 15,000 (depending upon the variant and dealership location). With the price hike of 1 per cent, the automaker is trying to mend the gap of production cost and retail cost.
