With the launch of EcoSport S, Ford has re-introduced the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine that was discontinued with the pre-facelift EcoSport. It makes 125PS of maximum power and 170Nm of torque. However, this time around it is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission instead of the 5-speed MT that was there before.
The EcoSport S is on offer with a diesel engine as well. It is the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the standard EcoSport. It makes 100PS of maximum power and 205Nm of peak torque, coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission.
As far as design is concerned, the S is now the sportiest looking EcoSport. It gets a new blacked-out grille, black roof and roof rails and 17-inch smoke alloys on the outside. On the inside, it gets orange colour cabin inserts and a new 4.2-inch digital information cluster. Other features offered on the S remain identical to the Titanium+ variant except for the new sunroof and bi-xenon headlamps, which are being offered for the first time on the EcoSport. For reference, the features offered on the Titanium+ variant include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP (electronic stability program), TC (traction control) and HLA (hill launch assist), and ISOFIX child seat anchors. It also gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking camera with sensors, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
Talking about the Signature edition, it is an optional package being offered on the EcoSport Titanium. So, the EcoSport Signature edition is powered by the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, but there are some cosmetic updates that distinguish it from the EcoSport Titanium. These include:
-
An electric sunroof
-
Front grille with chrome surround, diamond cut 17-inch alloys, black fog lamp bezel, all-round graphics, rear spoiler and roof rails
-
Blue colour accents on seat stitching, centre console and instrument panel
