Ford EcoSport Sports Emergency Assistance System; Bookings to Open Soon

Ford EcoSport is no doubt the most-awaited compact SUV in India, which is likely to be launched by June 2013. The American auto maker is leaving no stones unturned promoting this vehicle to make it a big hit. It is also expected that Ford EcoSport bookings will commence from June. The SUV comes equipped with various advanced technological features, including the Emergency Assistance System.

The Emergency Assistance System gives an important voice message directly to emergency operants, providing that a vehicle has been indulged in some problems like accident in which the car airbags have been extended or fuel pump shutoff has been prompted. In short, it will further enhances the safety and quickens the operations after any such situation occurs, or if driver met with an accident, someone will be automatically alerted.

The company claims that it is the first car manufacturer in India to provide such emergency alert system and safety options to its buyers. According to the Ford this system is 'Ford Sync', which uses the driver's mobile via Bluetooth and functional in the background once the mobile is connected with Sync. Once the connection is established, the Phone automatically connects with Sync every time when the driver enters the vehicle with the phone. The phone is automatically turned on, and Bluetooth is activated.

According to the Ford “Should an accident occur in which an airbag deploys or the emergency fuel pump shutoff is activated, the feature uses Sync hands-free phone capabilities to connect the driver directly with 108 – India’s emergency service, through the paired phone. Before initiating the emergency call, the vehicle’s Sync system will provide a 10- second window to allow the driver or passenger to decide whether to cancel the call. If not manually cancelled within the 10-second window, Sync will place the emergency call.”

The statement further reveals that if an accident happens while a driver or passenger is using its phone, the Emergency Assistance System can automatically end that call and dial the emergency services. Moreover, the incoming calls will not disturb the communication between the vehicle owner phone and the emergency operator. If any case, driver is not in a condition to communicate, SYNC will automatically deliver a voice message, and also provides GPS locations of the accident to emergency crews.
