Release of the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is fast approaching and in a very serendipitous manner, the American automaker, Ford has filed for a patent of a new, innovative feature which it is contemplating on introducing in its road cars. The patent has been filled for a pod, which will help one commute around the city in case of congested traffic or a mechanical breakdown. Ford Filed the patent earlier this month and one can spot that the car demonstrating this feature is a Ford Focus hatchback, whereas the only hatchback Ford offers in India is Figo.
This pod is assembled by removing the rear wheel of one’s stranded, jacked-up car (using an automatic jack) and attaching it to a compact unicycle frame. The unicycle will be an ideal for commuting in towns with narrow lanes and will act as an alternative to small cars and cumbersome bicycles, which occupy all the space in the trunk.
According to the patent this is "a self-propelled unicycle for selectively engaging the suspension system for use with the vehicle and selectively disengaging the suspension system for independent use."
The technology used in this unicycle is shared with that seen in the Batpod from “The Dark Knight” movie. The hub of the detached wheel encases an electric motor within it which rotates the wheel of this self-balancing unicycle. So, in case you are bombed by Joker’s warhead, you will no longer need the Tumbler, as you would have a escape pod of your own.
