Ford to increase vehicle production

In view of upcoming festival season in India, American car maker Ford decided to increase the vehicle production in the country. At present it makes 130 vehicles a day. This number is to be increased to 174 a day. That means it will be increased by 30 per cent. Ford India President and MD Michael Boneham told media persons here that they would try to increase the number of production units this month. He added that good demand is there for Ford Ikon, Ford Fiesta and Ford Endeavour. Ford Ikon and Ford Endeavour now come with their new upgraded variants. The New Ford Endeavour is launched recently with a price tag of between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Mr Bonehm said that the total sale for the year 2009 is expected to be the same as the last year. Last year the sales number was around 31,000 units. Ford India last year announced a USD 500 million investment plan spanning over three years to expand its manufacturing facility, setting up of a new diesel engine plant and also on new product development, including a small car for the Indian car market.
