The all new Ford Fiesta and Ford Figo are generating handsome sales for Ford India. Although August was a sluggish month for car maker, September has brought some respite. Ford India has registered a growth of 35% this year by selling a total of 90,000 cars in this year including wholesale and exports. Ford cars which had bid farewell to Tata Motors’ showrooms have managed to go to 10,270 homes (wholesale and exports) this September. All the models including Ford Figo, Ford Classic, new Ford Fiesta and Ford Endeavour are doing fairly good in market.

Terming upcoming festive season a reason to celebrate, company’s President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said that despite increasing fuel prices and an increasingly challenging market, consumers continue to choose the fuel-efficient, affordable and feature-filled vehicles that Ford offers, and the company is close to reach the 1,00,000 sales figure in this year. Ford India broke ground for its 1 billion USD new plant in Sanand, Gujarat in September. In addition, the company opened its new 76,000 square feet Parts Distribution Centre near Gurgaon in Haryana to support its growing sales. This new state-of-the-art warehouse for spare parts in northern India will support Ford's growing footprint.

Michael added, “With support from newer vehicles such as the All-New Ford Fiesta, sustained demand for the Ford Figo and our efforts to remove bottlenecks with suppliers' constraints to manufacture more diesel cars, we are hopeful of reducing the waiting period on diesel cars and boosting sales." To support its growing sales, Ford India is set to expand its sales and service network to more than 200 outlets in more than 120 cities by the end of 2011. About 2,469 Ford Figo cars exported in September, he said that exports are a strong part of Ford’s growth strategy. Figo’s ever-growing demand beyond the borders of India is perceived as a gratifying gesture by Ford India.
