Ford is coming up with a heavily reworked and better-equipped version of the EcoSport to take on the Vitara Brezza and the rest of the upcoming sub-4m SUVs in India.
American automaker Ford will reportedly introduce the much-anticipated facelifted EcoSport next month at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil. Ford began testing the facelifted version of the EcoSport towards the end of last year and the SUV has been spied on many occasions.
The updated EcoSport will also go on sale in the US (first time for the nameplate), which is perhaps the biggest reason why Ford will comprehensively update it, both inside and outside. Mechanically, it was a strong package right from the day it went on sale, and that aspect of the SUV will certainly remain the same. Speaking of its Indian debut, we expect Ford to launch it in the first half of next year.
The Ford EcoSport is a brilliant package with features such as six airbags, SYNC system with AppLink, leather seats, and 205mm of ground clearance, to name a few, and was a runaway success in India. But with newer and better-equipped rivals – especially the Vitara Brezza, introduced earlier this year – making an entry into the market, the EcoSport has started to lose its ground of late. That said, the facelifted EcoSport is coming with additional features – such as projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs, and a completely revamped dashboard with a large touchscreen-based infotainment system (likely the SYNC3) – probably ensure its lead once again.
