The smashing debut made by Ford EcoSport at the 2012 Auto Expo is still strongly imprinted in the consumers mind. Powered by the 1.0 L EcoBoost engine under the hood, Ford EcoSport is the first compact SUV from Ford India and the trendsetter for EcoBoost engines in the Indian car market, though the Ford's new engines are not anyway new, it was being offered in 7 Ford cars until last year. However, the 120 Bhp 1.0 L Ford EcoBoost petrol engine is going to be joined by newly developed higher capacity 2.0 L and 3.5 L EcoBoost engines through which Ford Motors hopes to triple its production capacity to just under 4 lakh vehicles.

Going forward, the all three EcoBoost engines will be incorporated in cars, trucks and utility vehicles in 2012 after a spectacular sales of the Ford cars powered by the EcoBoost engines selling 127,883 units in 2011 simultaneously taking the EcoBoost engine powered Ford cars to 11. The Ford's EcoBoost engines have most decidedly created a sensation last year tuned to deliver 20% bettered performance with the Ford's mastered technology combining the smaller capacity engines to see enhanced results with the turbo chargers and direct injection technologies as compared to the regular engines. Even the smallest 1.0 L capacity engine is supposed to match with the results of the 1.6 L petrol powertrain is what Ford Motors claim, although it remains to be seen when the Ford Escape and Ford Fusion are brought into the picture for comparison.

Ford is determined to take up the challenge as one of the EcoBoost engines will be used in the Ford Escape and Fusion which are already being offered with the 1.6 L Ford petrol engine working under the hood. Now that the Ford EcoSport is already seen with the 1.0 L petrol engine in the International markets and soon to be launched in India and two more Ford cars to jump on the bandwagon, there is a strong possibility of the 237 Bhp 2.0 L or the 365 Bhp 3.5 L EcoBoost engines delivering the best mileage ever heard with 31 mpg and 25 mpg respectively to power the Ford Taurus sedan for the first time to see how Ford succeeds with the higher capacity engines after having a good measure traction with the 1.0 EcoBoost engine.
