US based car manufacturer Ford sees India as a potential market for its newly engineered 'EcoBoost' engine technology, according to a top executive of the company. The 'EcoBoost' engines are fuel efficient as well as performance enhancing, with exceptionally low emission levels.
The EcoBoost technology has been appreciated by customers because of its ability to deliver power and performance with an exceptional fuel economy. The technology has a vast opportunity in India, said, Group VP global product development Derrick Kuzak. Ford, which was struggling with the worst-ever economic slowdown just few months back, is again on growth track after receiving the Stimulus packages from government's side.
Company presented its Ford Edge 2011 crossover, which is powered with EcoBoost engine, at the ongoing Detroit Auto Show. Mr Kuzak added that company is very excited about launching its Ford Figo model in India as it is the first-ever small car in India by Ford Motors. Production of Figo model has already been started at company's production facility in India and it is expected that the model will be launched in the country by the end of this month.
Performance of the Ford Figo model in Indian market is very crucial for the company as many major car manufacturers including Volkswagen, Honda, Toyota and Maruti are in the process of launching their respective small car models in the country. Upcoming cars in India includes Volkswagen Polo, Tata Aria, a new small car from Honda and Toyota Etios. Besides this in the starting of this year some new car models have been launched in India including Chevrolet Beat, Toyota Prius and Maruti Eeco.
