Anyone who owns the Titanium+ variants of the Figo or Figo Aspire, the Titanium AT variant of the EcoSport, any variant of the Endeavour or the Mustang, is well aware about Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology. The American carmaker has now updated it for all car models on sale in India. It now supports 5 new apps - Hungama Drive, InShorts, MapMyIndia, AccuWeather and Pparke.
Hungama Drive
With Hungama Drive, passengers can now stream live music without having to even touch their smartphone. The version of the app compatible with SYNC AppLink can also be controlled via voice commands. This app will be available to customers starting mid-June 2017.
InShorts
Next up is the InShorts news aggregation app. Once the compatible version is linked up with SYNC AppLink, passengers will be able to keep themselves up to date with the latest news. Customers can even customise the news feed as per their areas of interest via voice commands.
MapMyIndia
The third app is an upgraded version of MapMyIndia navigation app. Ford claims that the new app now minimises distractions as it helps navigate to any chosen destination using spoken and textual driving instructions. The new feature ensures that the driver doesn’t have to glance at the connected smartphone and can completely concentrate on driving instead.
AccuWeather
AccuWeather is a well known marque in the world of weather news and updates. Ford’s SYNC AppLink now supports this app and it will display latest weather conditions, forecast and more for the chosen location.
Pparke
The SYNC AppLink now also features Pparke app that helps customers to not only identify the nearest car parking location but also lists out full address, distance from the current location, number of parking slots available and the price to park.
So there you have it. Ford has been continuously upping its game in the infotainment department in India across segments. While it helps the carmaker to keep up with the tough competition, it also helps lure more customers who are after state-of-the-art technology to stay connected.
