In a major upheaval, Hyundai Grand i10 dislodged Maruti Swift from the spot of best selling B-segment hatchback for November 2015. Although major reason for the break in sales for Swift (drop of 34% sales) was the launch of Baleno, it was Grand i10 which took advantage of the rivalry among these cars. Launched in September 2013, the South Korean car registered increase in sales by 54% and has been able to dominate Swift for the first time.
The list of top 10 selling cars (Excluding Utility Vehicles) has been dominated by Maruti Suzuki as usual. The company claims 6 spots out of 10 in which Alto, DZire and WagonR stand at first, second and third position respectively. Maruti sold 21,995 units of Alto last month, although with a decline of 9% sales. Dzire observed a stunning growth and went on to sell 18,826 units this November as compared to 12,020 units last time. The new entry is of Baleno (spot no.6) which sold 9,074 units within just one month of launch. Maruti Celerio too jumped up from tenth to ninth spot and witnessed an increase of sales by 43% as compared to last month. Eon, although could not jump in the chart, managed an increase of sales by 8%.
Hyundai Elite i20 too faced the heat of the growing popularity of Maruti Baleno and came down two positions with a decline of sales by 22%. Honda managed to keep City in the chart at spot no.10 which was previously at no.6.
One of the biggest rivals of this car will be the upcoming Tata Zica. Tata will keep Zica price competitive as the company relies heavily on it to re-enter the Indian market.
P.S. Comparison in sales, in general, are made with respect to the corresponding time last year, unless specified.
