From SUV-coupes like the Mahindra XEV 9e to sub-4m SUVs including the Kia Syros, Bharat NCAP has tested a total of 5 cars in 2025 till now

It has been almost 17 months that Bharat NCAP has been testing made-in-India cars, since its debut in December 2023 with the Tata Safari and Harrier’s crash test results. In such a span of time, the indigenous testing agency has crash-tested a lot of cars across varied shapes and body styles. In 2025, it has put out ratings of 5 cars in India till now.

Let us take a look at all the cars that were tested by Bharat NCAP in 2025 till now.

Mahindra XEV 9e Bharat NCAP AOP tests

One of the first crash tests to happen this year was the Mahindra XEV 9e, which is currently the carmaker’s most premium electric offering in the country. It scored a 5-star safety rating for both AOP and COP tests, the highlight being its AOP score which was 32/32, making it the safest car to be tested by Bharat NCAP till date. Notably, the electric SUV-coupe provided ‘good’ protection to all the critical parts of the driver and co-driver in the AOP tests, which enabled it to score full marks.

The safety features onboard the XEV 9e include up to 7 airbags (6 as standard), an electronic parking brake with auto hold, 360-degree camera, auto park assist, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It also offers a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a Level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) with features like forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking.

It is priced between Rs 21.90 lakh and Rs 30.50 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India)

Mahindra BE 6 Bharat NCAP AOP test

The Mahindra BE 6 was tested alongside the XEV 9e and it scored a similar 5-star crash-safety  rating for both AOP and COP, like the bigger Mahindra EV. While it had a similar COP score, it lost minor points in AOP because the right tibia was rated to provide ‘adequate’ protection in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. However, the BE 6 got a ‘good’ rating for the other critical parts of both driver and co-driver.

That said, the electric SUVs safety suite is identical to the bigger XEV 9e, but the BE 6 has a slightly lower price tag that ranges from Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).

Skoda Kylaq Bharat NCAP Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) tests

The Skoda Kylaq’s crash test report was released on January 15, 2025 and like the other models in the list, it scored 5-stars for both the crash test criteria. Moreover, its crash test results are better than the Kia Syros and Mahindra XUV 3XO, which makes it the safest sub-4m SUV that is currently available in the market.

Its safety suite features 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, a rear parking camera with sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It is the most affordable Skoda SUV in India, prices of which range between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India).

Kia Syros Bharat NCAP Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) tests

The Kia Syros was another sub-4m SUV that has been tested by Bharat NCAP this year, and while its ratings is not as good as the Kylaq, it definitely has scored more points than the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The crash test was also the first time any made-in-India Kia offering was tested by the indigenous testing agency and scoring a 5-star rating on debut is a cherry on the cake.

Like other Kia offerings, the Syros also gets a robust safety suite, including 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), front, side and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, and an electronic parking brake. It also gets ISOFIX child seat anchorages and a level-2 ADAS suite. Kia has also equipped it with a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake as well as front and rear parking sensors.

The Syros is positioned as a premium rival to the other sub-4m cars and its prices range from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 17.80 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
