Honda is giving the much-needed upgrades to its compact sedan Amaze. The facelifted model will be launched on March 3rd, which is next week. The current version of Amaze had decent mechanicals but lacked in terms of cabin feel and of lately, it required a facelift too. Looking at the leaked images, it appears that Honda has tried to fulfill all the expectations. The facelifted sedan will compete with the latest entrant - Ford Figo Aspire and facelifted Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest along with upcoming VW Ameo.
New Cabin
To begin with, Amaze’s cabin was slightly criticised for its bland looks. The facelifted model is coming with a brand new dashboard, which has been inspired by the one in the Jazz and City. This is the same dashboard Honda will be introducing with the BR-V ,however, with a different steering wheel, more features and all-black treatment. Though, Amaze will continue to have the black and beige theme with the new dash.
Feature Additions
One thing which was sorely missing in the Amaze since the very beginning was the option of an automatic climate control. While all the other cars in the segment offer an automatic climate control. This said, the facelifted Amaze is coming with an automatic climate control system, similar to that of the upcoming BR-V. Another missing key feature in the current Amaze was the Bluetooth Connectivity with the stock audio system, though, it was available with the optional touchscreen infotainment unit. However, now it is expected that the new audio unit will come with Bluetooth phone integration. Besides this, it will also come with a few other add-ons.
Mechanicals
Mechanically, Amaze is likely to remain unaltered. The diesel trims will be powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission. While the petrol will be powered by the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, also, mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission along with a 5-Speed automatic.
Aesthetics Upgrade
Deducing from the spied images, Honda has given a stylistic makeover to the 2016 Amaze. The front facade went under the hammer the most. You’ll get to see a wide twin-slat chrome grille flanked by the same headlamps. The front bumper is also thoroughly revised. At the rear, the taillamps are similar in terms of design but receive new graphics. Besides this, the vehicle remains largely unchanged.
Prices
The outgoing Amaze starts at Rs. 5.26 Lacs for the base petrol and Rs. 6.24 Lacs for the base diesel, Ex-Showroom New Delhi. It is expected that the prices will be slightly hiked considering all the new add ons it is getting.
