It's been just three weeks, Honda Cars India launched its much anticipated compact sedan, the Amaze in India, and it has already outshined the response its arch rival Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire received at the launch, a year back. Honda Amaze has already recorded a whooping 22,000 bookings within three weeks of its launch, and it all happened as it was Honda's first ever diesel vehicle in India. The company has also delivered 4852 units in April, which helped the company record a growth of 20%.
Priced at Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 5.99 lakh for petrol and diesel versions respectively, the Amaze has brought the highest foot fall at Honda's dealership across India. In fact, in some regions the bookings went up to 8 months. The Amaze has been launched at a time when the entire industry is facing the slowdown, but as they say, a good product will always remain in demand. Renault Duster is the other example we have in India, which brought the much needed success to Renault India and has been still doing superb for the company.
Such an opening has certainly forced other competitors to bring different promotional schemes to compete against the Honda Amaze. Right after the launch of Amaze, Maruti Suzuki India rolled out the limited edition version of Dzire called the Regal and then it organized 'Dzirable mileage rally' to claim Swift to be more fuel efficient car than the Amaze.
On the other hand, Tata Motors too promoted its flagship sedan Manza club class, claiming it to be better than the Amaze in most departments. However, both come from different segments, and Amaze is the most powerful car in its segment and also the most fuel efficient car in the country today.
Speaking on the whooping experience the Amaze has received, a Honda Cars India executive said, "We have witnessed a large number of walk-ins since the launch of the Amaze; several more wait to drive the car. On most days, the showrooms are open till 8 pm, but now, it's extended to 10-10.30 pm,"
"The response has been overwhelming, but we are not sharing any booking figures yet," said a Honda Car India spokesperson.
