Honda Brio Diesel Sedan Coming by First Quarter 2013

We have been constantly reporting you about the Honda Cars India’s diesel car plans, some days back we reported that Honda is working on the Brio sedan, which will be the company’s first diesel car. Now our trusted sources have confirmed that the Brio diesel will be launched in the first quarter of 2013, to be precise by March-April. Sources have further revealed that there will be no diesel variant of the existing Brio; in fact the company is not planning to launch the diesel variant of any of their existing cars, so there will be a completely new range of diesel cars.
Speaking more about the upcoming Honda Brio Sedan, he said that Brio sedan will have both petrol and diesel engine options. During a press conference in Japan last month, Honda Motor Global CEO Mr. Takanobu had also said that the company is working on a new diesel engine for the Indian market.
Talking about India, Mr. Takanobuhad said, "In India, an all-new diesel engine will be adopted sequentially to new models starting in FY2014. In addition to the high fuel efficiency, the cost competitiveness of the all-new diesel engine will be enhanced through local sourcing and local production to make new diesel models more affordable for customers."
Honda had also announced to launch an all new Jazz (Fit) series globally in 2013 which would also be coming in India as well. The all new Brio will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and some others.
