Couple of months back, Honda revealed the official sketch of the Brio based MPV at the Mid Year Media Gathering event in Jakarta, Indonesia. Now the pictures of the Honda Brio MPV and its feature list have been leaked ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show on September 19. It will be the third Brio based model, we already seen Brio hatch and Amaze compact sedan on the same platform.
The Honda Brio based MPV is specifically developed for developing nations including India, Indonesia and Malaysia. According to the media reports, the MPV could be named as Honda Mobilio, and will be made available in three trims - S (MT), E (MT) and E (CVT) for the Indonesian customers. The MPV segment is growing strongly in Indonesia, and Honda aims to capitalize on it.
The vehicle comes equipped with all the features available in the Brio hatch and Amaze compact sedan such as music system with USB connectivity, tilt adjust steering, all power windows, dual SRS airbags, pre tensioned seat belts and others. The exterior of the MPV gets colour ORVMs, 15 inch steel wheels and rear wipers. The top of the line model of the vehicle gets additional features such as chrome vents, ABS, chrome surrounded fog lamps, dual interior lamps, seat back pockets, keyless entry, central locking, AC vents for the second row and others.
While talking about the engine configuration, the Honda Mobilio (Brio based MPV) is likely to house the 1.5-litre petrol engine, which also does duty in City sedan. For the Indian market, the vehicle will also get a diesel engine - 1.5-litre i-DTEC that develops 98bhp and 200Nm of top torque. The Honda Brio based MPV will compete against the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Mahindra Quanto. The exact launch date of the car in India is yet to be announced, but we expect it to hit the Indian shores by the mid of 2014 or the company might also introduce the vehicle at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
