Honda has brought the BR-V to the ongoing Motor Show at Bangkok. Though the compact crossover has already been launched in Thailand, the car has still managed to preserve the charm around it. The car was unveiled in India at the Auto Expo 2016 but is yet to be launched here.
The four-wheeler shares its platform with the Honda Mobilio and the Brio. It has projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and borrows its dashboard from the Honda Jazz. Finding Thailand as its first market, the BR-V is offered in a 5-seater, as well in a 7-seater layout. The former is priced at 750,000 baht (approx. Rs. 14 lakh) and the latter costs 820,000 baht (approx. Rs.15 lakh). In India, expect the car to be priced somewhere around Rs. 10 lakh.
Mechanical duties are carried out by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel mill. The former produces 118bhp of power @ 6600 rpm with 145Nm of torque @ 4600 rpm and the latter generates 99 horses @ 3600 rpm with 200Nm @ 1750 rpm. This is comparable with BR-V’s closest competitor, the Hyundai Creta, whose petrol version produces 121bhp of power with 151Nm of torque. On the other hand, the more powerful variant of the two diesel versions on offer, generates a power of 126bhp with 260Nm. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT transmission. While the manual comes as standard, the petrol version will offer the CVT as optional.
This is the 37th edition of the Bangkok International Motor Show and the Japanese carmaker brought the Accord and the Civic to the automobile extravaganza as well. It is also taking bookings for the compact crossover at the show. The 10-day–long festival will end on April 3, 2016.
