Honda Cars India to Export Diesel Engines

Honda Cars India had recently launched its much-anticipated first ever diesel car 'Amaze' in the Indian auto market. The car has received an overwhelming response and five months advance bookings for the car is already there, proving the kind of response that car has achieved. The highly efficient 1.5L i-DTEC engine is being appreciated by each and every car experts. The company is planning to export diesel engine components to Asian and European markets from India, besides launching 3-4 new products with diesel engines to boost its sales.
"We will export diesel engine components to Europe and South East Asian markets from India. This fiscal, the target is Rs 500 crore against Rs 332 crore registered in 2012-13," Honda Cars India SVP Jnaneswar Sen said here today at the launch of its new sedan, Amaze, in the city. The company remains optimistic about the success story of diesel cars, He added. The Japanese auto-giant was surprised when the Indian government took one decision of removing the subsidies on diesel, however the demand for diesel cars is still on high.
The Japanese auto-major will launch four new models in India in the next 2-3 years- Jazz based compact SUV, seven seater MPV, next-generation Jazz and new City. The all new products will be powered by diesel engines, and company might introduced 1.5 L or 1.6 L diesel engines along with the petrol variants of these cars.
Honda India has recently invested Rs. 2500 crore in its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan to double its capacity to 2.4 lakh units, which is expected to become operational by mid 2014.
