After a series of teasers and a few spy shots, Honda Elevate will finally make its global debut in India tomorrow. Since it's the first brand-new model from Honda after 2017, both customers and Honda have a lot of expectations from this SUV, as it is going to enter the most competitive segment in India, the compact SUV space. Here is a quick overview of what all things we can expect from the new Honda SUV.

A Crisp SUV Design

Honda Elevate Side Teaser

From what we have seen in recent teasers and spy shots, the Elevate will feature an upright stance and a traditional SUV silhouette with sharp details. On the front, the Elevate is expected to come with LED DRLs and a big chrome grille based on what we have seen in the teaser released by Honda, whereas at the rear, it will feature wraparound LED tail light setup, which is also seen on the Indonesian-spec WR-V.

A recent spy image of the Honda Elevate has already confirmed a 360-degree camera setup which was evident from the bulge underneath the ORVM housing. We also know that Honda’s upcoming compact SUV will feature a single-pane sunroof, which was revealed in an official teaser.

The Elevate's cabin is likely to be laden with features such as a bigger touchscreen system than the City's 8-inch unit, a digital driver's display, cruise control, wireless phone charging, and ventilated front seats. Honda may include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and forward-collision warning in its small SUV. If offered, the Elevate will be only the second compact SUV after the MG Astor to get this safety technology.

Hybrid Option Likely

Honda City e:HEV

Honda Elevate is expected to use the same engine options as the Honda City: a 1.5-litre petrol engine which makes 121PS and 145Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Honda might also offer City Hybrid’s tech in the Elevate SUV in the form of the 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to a twin electric motor setup, churning out 126PS and 253Nm. This powertrain claims a fuel economy of  27.13kmpl in the sedan and could promise over 25kmpl with the Elevate too. However, there is a chance that this electrified powertrain may be introduced in the market at a later date.

Expected Price & Rivals

The prices for the Honda Elevate are expected to be announced in August this year, and could start from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Once launched, it will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and MG Astor.
