Honda Cars India Ltd. has announced a price hike of up to Rs. 16,000 for all its models in India. The Japanese carmaker sells cars from Brio (entry-level small car), costing Rs 4.25 lac (ex-showroom Delhi), to CR-V, priced at Rs 25.13 lac (ex-showroom Delhi). The automaker claims that the announcement for the rise in prices comes at a time when input costs are increasing for the maker. It also said that the hike will be ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 16,000, depending upon the model of car.
"We will hike prices in the range of Rs 10,000-16,000 from January, depending on the model. The price increase has been necessitated on account of increase in input costs," apprised Jnaneswar Sen, Honda Cars Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales).
The price hike announcement does not come as a surprise as almost all the competing carmakers have already made similar announcements.
While Hyundai announced that it will be increasing prices by upto Rs. 30,000, Maruti limited the increase to Rs. 20,000. Nissan and Skoda have stretched the prices by upto 3%. These hikes are valid from January 2016.
Honda currently has a strong hold on the Indian market and sells cars like Brio, Amaze , City, Mobilio, Jazz and CR V here.
