Honda India sells 4758 units in September

The monthly sales of leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), have seen a fall in numbers as they managed to sell 4758 units in the month of September 2011 as against 7728 units sold during the corresponding month last year.

Honda has recently launched its new small car Honda Brio in India. The production of Brio in September was limited to the display cars which are now available at all dealerships across the country.If we take the model wise break up of these sales Honda City was the leader with 3720 units followed by Honda Jazz with 596 units the Honda accord with 137 followed by Honda Brio and Honda Civic with 171 and 117 respectively and Honda CR-V managed to sell 17 units  At present the company has two manufacturing facilities in India one is at Greater Noida, UP with a capacity of manufacturing 100,000 cars. The second manufacturing facility is in Tapukara, Rajasthan which is equipped with press shot and power train to make body panels and engine components for their models including Honda Brio, Honda Jazz and Honda City.

It is noteworthy that the plant is Rajasthan has also been awarded with "National Energy Conservation Award" for the year 2010. As for the company, HSCI is one of the leading manufacturers of passenger cars in India. A joint venture between Honda Motor Co Ltd (Japan) and Siel Limited was started with a commitment to provide Honda’s latest passenger car models and technologies, to the Indian customers.

The company’s product range includes Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord. These models are produced at the Greater Noida facility with an indigenization level of 77%, 76%, 74% and 28% respectively. However, the model Honda CR-V is imported from Japan as Completely Built Units. As for the consumers they perceive Honda as a brand that tries to incorporate advanced design and technology in its models along with qualities like durability, reliability and fuel-efficiency.
