Honda targets to sell 50,000 units of Amaze this year

Honda India aims to sell around 50,000 units of its recently launched entry-level Amaze sedan in the current fiscal in India. We reported earlier that the Japanese auto-giant will launch five new models in the country over the next three years. Honda Amaze is one among the five, and rest four will be Next-generation Jazz, new City sedan, Brio based MUV and Jazz based compact SUV.
Honda Cars India Ltd Senior Vice President, Jnaneswar Sen said that the company's would be able to produce only 4,000-5,000 units of Amaze per month this year as its limited by the current production capacity. However, the company is aiming to increase its production capacity, and to do so it will start a new assembly line costing Rs. 2500 crore at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The new Production unit will have a capacity of developing 120,000 units per annum and the first car will be rolled out from first half of 2014. The firm will also open a fully integrated diesel parts and engine assembly unit with a capacity of developing 163,000 units per annum.
