  • New interior spy shots show white leather upholstery with black inserts.

  • Exterior spy shots reveal a split headlamp setup, 17-inch alloy wheels, body cladding, and a boxy silhouette.

  • Should borrow the Grand i10 Nios’ 83PS 1.2-litre petrol, 100PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 75PS 1.2-litre diesel engines.

  • Expected to be priced from just under Rs 6 lakh.

New spy shots of the Hyundai Casper micro SUV have surfaced online, revealing several exterior and interior styling bits. The manufacturer’s smallest SUV is likely to be launched in India by 2022.

The interior spy shots show a premium setup featuring white leather seats with black inserts. At the front, you get a centre armrest with a cubby hole in the console. Unfortunately, these are the only details that can be made out from the spy shots.

The exterior spy shots show 17-inch alloy wheels, C-pillar mounted door handles, circular headlamps which will be a part of the split setup, a rectangular front grille, LED DRLs, body cladding all over, and roof rails. The windows seem somewhat small and could restrict the comfort of the cabin. Besides, it gets a boxy design with sharp edges -- a complete SUV-hatchback cross.

The Hyundai Casper micro SUV is expected to be packed with premium features, such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, automatic AC, a rear parking camera, and LED lighting.

Hyundai is likely to offer the AX1 with the same powertrains as the Grand i10 Nios: 1.2-litre petrol (83PS/114Nm), 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (100PS/172Nm), and 1.2-litre diesel (75PS/190Nm). While a 5-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard across all engines, the petrol and diesel units get an optional 5-speed AMT.

It is expected to be priced from just under Rs 6 lakh, rivalling the Maruti Suzuki IgnisTata HBX, and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
