Hyundai Exports grew by 10.5%

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, registered around 1% growth in cumulative sales for the month of August 2011. While the domestic sales dropped by 6.7% the exports grew by 10.5%.

HMIL’s total sales for August, 2011 stood at 51,030 units against 50,633 units in August, 2010. The domestic sales accounted for 26,677 units compared to 28,601units for the same month last year while the exports totaled 24,353 units in August 2011 against 22,032 units of August 2010. Commenting on August 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “The market continues to be tough and there are no signs of recovery in the immediate future.

The rising fuel prices and interest rates have been instrumental in this sluggish market trend.” The segment-wise cumulative sales for the month of August, 2011 are as follows: A2 segment (Santro, i10, i20) 43,687 units; A3 Segment (Hyundai Accent & Hyundai Verna) 7,105 units; A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 12 units; Hyundai Santa Fe (SUV) 226 units.
