Hyundai Exports grew by 11.2%

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, registered a 1.5% decline in cumulative sales for the month of July, 2011. While the domestic sales dropped by 11% the exports grew by 11.2%.

HMIL’s total sales for July, 2011 stood at 49,667 units against 50,411 units in July, 2010. The domestic market accounted for 25,642 units compared to 28,811 units for the same month last year while the exports totaled 24,025 units in July, 2011 against 21,600 units of July, 2010.

Commenting on July, 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “The July 2011 sales for both the Industry and as well as Hyundai Motor India Ltd. had been negative. Though the customer enquiries have increased but due to the increase in fuel price and interest rates conversion rate has slowed down.”

The segment-wise cumulative sales for the month of July, 2011 are as follows: A2 segment (Santro, i10, i20) 41,533 units; A3 Segment (Accent & Verna) 7,980 units; A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 13 units; Santa Fe (SUV) 141 units.
