How does the new Nios fare in terms of size and performance?
The new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has been launched with prices ranging between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is the third generation version of the carmaker’s mid-size hatchback and features a brand new exterior and interior design. Here’s how the new Grand i10 Nios compares against its segment rivals:

The third-gen Grand i10 Nios is bigger than the second-gen Grand i10 in every aspect except height. It is still shorter than its rivals while the wheelbase is the same length as the Swift. The Figo is the longest and packs the longest wheelbase as well. However, it has the least amount of luggage space. Meanwhile, the Swift is the tallest and widest one here with the most luggage space.
Engines
Hyundai offers the new Grand i10 Nios with a pair of 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, both of which are available with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The Ford Figo’s petrol powertrains are the most powerful and torquiest in the segment. It is also the only one that is now available with a proper 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Meanwhile, the Nios and Swift’s petrol engines are tied in terms of performance and both are BS6 compliant as well.

However, the Swift is most fuel efficient model here and the Figo automatic with the largest engine capacity is the least frugal choice. The Nios is slightly more efficient than the petrol Figo.

The Grand i10 Nios’ diesel engine is tied with the Swift’s for performance once again. Ford’s hatchback has the biggest diesel engine and offers the most performance. The Maruti diesel is the most fuel efficient choice again while the Figo is the least efficient. Having said that, all the hatchbacks offer over 24kmpl of certified efficiency.
