Hyundai Russia rolls out 500,000th Solaris/Verna sedan

Hyundai Russian Subsidiary has rolled out its 500,000th car from its manufacturing plant in Saint-Petersburg. The 500,000th car is a red Russian-exclusive Solaris sedan (also known as Verna in India) with an automatic gearbox and 1.6-litre engine. The car was rolled out in the presence of the Governor of Saint-Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko and General Director of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Russia Shin Myeong Ki as well as dealers and customers, but the guests of honor were the employees of the plant. The employees were given a special mention during the ceremony for their dedication and efforts.
The ceremony marks the company’s achievement of 500,000 manufactured cars within a period of two years and a half since the start of mass production in January 2011. By the end of 2011, Hyundai Motor Russia Manufacturing increased production capacity up to 200,000 cars annually.
The Solaris/Verna is also available with two petrol engine options - a 1.4-litre engine that develops 107bhp and a 1.6-litre engine that is capable of developing 123bhp. Both engines comes mated to a manual or an automatic transmission gearbox. In India, the vehicle is also available in diesel version.
