Hyundai has started testing the facelifted Santa-FE which is expected to be revealed next year. Speaking of India, the mid-life refreshed Santa-FE is likely to be launched next year or Hyundai India might formally reveal it at the 2016 India Auto Expo.
Adding on the facelift, the heavily camouflaged test mule hints at subtly updated front fascia, expect spruced-up bumper and grille along with headlights. Changes to the side profile will be limited, except for the new set of alloys.
At the rear, the overall design of the taillamps are same but the internal graphics are different. Moreover, interior changes are miniscule compared to exterior stylistic updates, it gets new infotainment system with a larger touchscreen unit while it continue to get all-black dashboard (expect dual-tone dash for India like the current one).
Mechanically, the facelifted version is expected to offer the same 2.2 liter Hyundai's 'R' series oil burner in India. The motor currently generates a meaty 194.3bhp at 3800 rpm, torque stands tall at 420 Nm and starts extracting it from the engine speed – 1800 rpm and maxes out at 2500 rpm.
Currently, Santa-Fe comes with an option of both manual and automatic; the manual comes with 2WD option while the automatic features H-Matic 6-speed unit offering 4WD setup. Moreover, Hyundai will also reportedly offer Santa-Fe facelift internationally with a hybrid powertrain (petrol-electric), but it is unlikely to be offered in India.
