Hyundai India that unveiled its new compact sedan Xcent at the 2014 Auto Expo, has announced that the car will be launched on March 12, 2014 at New Delhi. Based on the Grand i10 hatch, the car comes under sub-four-metre compact sedan segment and is expected to be priced around Rs 5 lakh.
The exterior design is similar to that of its hatch sibling differs only at the rear end, while inside the car, one can find rear A/C vents, keyless entry with push-button start, rear parking sensors, USB enabled music system with 1GB internal storage. Moreover, the top of the line variants further includes automatic climate control, ABS, dual front airbags, rear parking camera and steering-mounted control to name a few.
Mechanically, the Xcent uses hatch's tried and tested 1.2 gasoline and 1.1 oil burner engine. The petrol engine churns out a power of 82bhp and peak torque of 114Nm while the diesel model belts out a power of 70bhp and torque of 160Nm. Both the engines are coupled to five speed manual transmission while there is also an option of four-speed automatic transmission in the petrol variants.
The company will place the Xcent against the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and seeing the features, it is expected that the car will give a tough competition to the mentioned cars. Stay tuned to CarDekho for the live launch of Xcent on the upcoming 12th!
