Hyundai has started working on replacing your car keys with NFC embedded technology in your smartphones. Applications in smartphones are replacing most of the devices and soon shall replace your car keys also.
Hyundai had showcased this technology in the i30 as “Connectivity Concept” in Frankfurt, Germany. As per Hyundai, the driver could swipe his phone across the NFC chip and once inside can place the phone, where he start the car and also charge the phone without any wire connectivity. Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe stated, “With this technology, Hyundai is able to harness the all-in-one functionality of existing smartphone technology and integrate it into everyday driving in a seamless fashion.”
This isn’t enough; Hyundai will further work on integrating smartphones with the vehicle’s touchscreen system. This will mean that the phone’s display can be seen on the vehicle’s centre console display and one can stream music, see movies and check other things like images, navigation etc. Hyundai states this to become reality by 2015 on its products.
