ICML plans to launch a new SUV

International Cars and Motors Limited, that is, ICML which is owned by the Sonalika Group of companies has made an announcement that it will soon be introducing an all new Sports Utility Vehicle in the automobile market of India in the coming time. This new product of the company is expected to compete with the powerful model Mahindra Scorpio. Mahindra Scorpio is the segment leader in India. Presently, since 2008, ICML is working on the concept called “The Inspire” which it had displayed at the Auto Expo 2008. This new model is into the development procedure along with Pininfarina – an Italian design studio. International Cars and Motors Limited (ICML) had also said then that the new model will go into the process of production in the year 2010 and it will be placed as World SUV in the company’s product portfolio. At present, ICML has got Rhino model in the SUV segment. It is otherwise better known for manufacturing farm equipments and tractors.
International Tractors’ president, international business, Rajiv Wahi stated that the company is ready for beginning alliances with the foreign partners for sourcing the required technology to power the automobile dream of India. He said that as a group, automobile is one of the three segments of the company, besides the farm equipment and tractors. The company observes the potential in the automobile segment and desires to make its presence in all segments, added Wahi. ICML is also planning to manufacture its SUV model on a platform which could also used for the production of a sedan.
On the other side, the Sonalika Group had earlier announced that it is in talks with several firms in China and United States which can offer partnership to the auto major for establishing its manufacturing plants in those markets. The Sonalika Group is trying its best in these ongoing discussions because the the group plans to launch its tractors in the profitable auto markets of these two places. In Europe also, the Sonalika Group is seeking acquisition. For the coming 2-3 years, the Sonalika group has reserved Rs 200 crore for its complete plans of expansion.
