JLR to face competition from likes of BMW, Audi

The road for the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is not a bed of roses as the competition is very high in the premium car segment in India. Already there are established brand names like BMW, Porsche, Mercedes and Audi. Tata Motors recently launched its Jaguar and Land Rover brands in the Indian market. The Jaguar range will include the XF, XFR and the XKR models, while the Land Rover range will include the Discovery 3, Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover in the price range of Rs 63-92 lakh and Rs 63-89 lakh, respectively.The Jaguar range will compete in India with the Mercedes E class, BMW 5 series and Audi A6, while Land Rover will take on Porsche Cayanne and BMW X5 and Mercedes M class; all of which are in similar price brackets. Super-luxury brands such as Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Lamborghini are priced in the Rs 2-4-crore range. Jaguar will unveil the premium XJ sedan globally on July 9.
