The Indian automobile market is one of the fastest growing in the world. And every carmaker wants to have a piece of the pie. Two new manufacturers, Kia and MG, are all set to enter the Indian automotive space with their respective SUVs, the Seltos and Hector. And while the Kia is a compact SUV that will rival the Creta, Kicks and the S-Cross, the Hector will take on midsize SUVs like the Harrier and Compass.

Although these SUVs are not natural rivals, some of their variants are expected to be similarly priced. So while we wait for the prices of the two, let’s take a look at how these two fare against each other in pictures.

Front:

The Hector features an unconventional front fascia with bumper-mounted headlamps and turn indicators placed at the top, whereas the Kia follows a rather conventional approach. The headlamps are placed right next to the grille, while the fog lamps are positioned lower down in the bumper. Both the SUVs here feature all-LED lighting including LED headlamps, DRLs and fog lamps.

Side:

Kia has not officially revealed the dimensions of the Seltos, however, it appears smaller than the Hector in images, in terms of length. For reference, the Hector is 4655mm long and has a wheelbase of 2750mm. Also, the Kia looks like an SUV, thanks to its upright profile, whereas the MG, thanks to its enormous length, big rear overhang and a tapering window line, has an MPV-ish look. However, both these SUVs have one thing in common - squared off wheel arches with 17-inch alloys.

Rear:

The Hector’s rear profile looks busy with multiple character lines and connected tail lamps. The Seltos, on the other hand, looks clean and sporty. It also features connected tail lamps, but here they are connected by a thick chrome trim, instead of a sleek chrome insert in the Hector. Like the front, the tail lamps also feature LEDs.

Infotainment:

The Hector comes with a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Seltos, on the other hand, gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen unit. Both systems offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with other connected services courtesy of an eSIM. The Hector will offer some additional connected features over the Seltos like voice control for AC, sunroof and others.

Note: We have not included any details about the Seltos’ cabin since Kia is yet to unveil it.

Engine:

Both SUVs will be available with petrol as well as diesel engine options. While MG has revealed the details of the Hector’s powertrains, Kia has just given us hints of what the Seltos will offer. Here is a comparison:
