Land Rover has just confirmed that the 2015 Discovery Sport will feature a third row to house 5+2 passengers. The latest camouflage revealed by the manufacturer clearly suggests that the Discovery Sport will be available with an option of third row which can also be folded to have that extra luggage space. The SUV is on its final stage of testing as the prototypes have already left the Halewood manufacturing plant and the time is not far when JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) launches its dynamic SUV.
The upcoming model will replace the Freelander and will be tagged below the Discovery when it will be introduced next year. The company previously showcased the Discovery Vision concept which focuses on the new design concept. The company will first showcase the 2015 Discovery Sport at the Paris Motor Show later this year, where it will share its stage with the Jaguar XE.
The Discovery Sport will be rivaling the likes of Mercedes Benz ML CLass, Audi Q5 and BMW X5. The teased image is showing the exterior profile and with the special effects the interior is also shown which clearly suggests the presence of third row. With 5+2 seats on offer, the SUV is more of a family car which can easily accommodate seven people but when you have extra bit of luggage, the rear seats simply fold off to evacuate that extra boot space.
Gerry McGovern, Design Director and Chief Creative Officer for Land Rover said, "As you would expect from a Discovery, the versatile Discovery Sport will feature optional 5+2 seating, offering spacious load space and configurable seating, while still retaining a more compact footprint than traditional 5-seat SUVs." He further added,"Discovery Sport will go on sale alongside the existing Discovery in 2015."
