Team Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton finishes first to grab his third pole position for the season at the qualifying race for the Chinese Grand Prix. On the slippery wet surface, the British driver quite easily crossed the chequered flag in 1min 53.860sec. However, he fails to break the circuit lap record of 1m 32.238sec set by Michael Schumacher in 2004, with his red hot ride-Ferrari.

On the tracks of Shanghai International Circuit, it was Red Bull's driver Daniel Ricciardo who came second followed by his team-mate Sebastian Vettel. The Australian driver Ricciardo was just half a second slower than Hamilton, while it was a lucky day for Vettel as he finished third in 1:54.960. Nico Rosberg of Mercedes who currently tops the driver's standings mange to come fourth after the uneventful spun at the last bend.

Lewis Hamilton looked confident on every bend and corner of track that measures 5.451 kms. By winning his 34th pole position, he smashed the record of winning most pole positions set by legendary Scott Jim Clark way back in 1960s. After finishing first at the qualifying race, Lewis Hamilton is now 11 points behind his team mate Nico Rosberg who will start the main race by standing at the fourth position behind the Red Bull team-mates.

For Force India- Mercedes it was quite a disappointing qualifying race as tomorrow on the main race, Nico Hulkenberg will start at 8th position while his partner Sergio Perez from 16th position.

There is still no success for the team Ferrari as Fernando Alonso will start the main race with fifth place on the grid while his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen was eliminated in the qualifying race and will be placed at the 11th position. Recently, Marco Mattiacci has taken the charge of team principal of Ferrari Formula One team as Stefano Domenicali stepped down. His resignation came from the fact that the team Ferrari has failed to acquire the Team Championship since 2008. However, in 2013 its was Ferrari's driver Fernando Alonso who finished first in UBS Chinese Grand Prix followed by the Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.

Due to rain and wet surface, the crew of all the team started changing tyres to Pirelli’s blue-marked full-wet tyres. Only Toro Rosso’s Jean-Eric Vergne, and the Caterham drivers raced in the green-marked intermediate tyres.

The final race is scheduled on Sunday, 20th April where last year's champion Fernando Alonso will try to repeat his success story while the current number one Nico Rosberg along with his team partner and winner of last two races, Lewis Hamilton will race to stay on top.

The standing line up for the final race is as follows: Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettell, Nico Rosberg; Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa; Valtteri Bottas, Nico Hulkenberg; Jean-Eric Vergne, Romain Grosjean; Kimi Räikkönen, Jenson Button; Daniil Kvyat, Adrian Sutil; Kevin Magnussen, Sergio Perez; Esteban Gutierrez, Kamui Kobayashi; Jules Bianchi, Marcus Ericsson; Max Chilton, Pastor Maldonado.
